Teaching things you should have learned in school

58% of students across the US were not taught Media literacy.

56% of people in the US struggle to cook basic recipes.

Our mission is to instill a love of knowledge and educate the US population while providing them the tools they need to succeed in a world plagued with misinformation.

In order to reach the population, you must speak their language.

This is why we distribute the majority of our information in bite size formats like zines, booklets & short-form videos. This helps curate interest in an age when average attention spans are between 8-12 seconds.

We also give the tools to apply this information to their lives..

As a queer, palestinian and Indigenous run organization, we understand that the biggest contribution to declining literacy rates are extremist, bigoted and racist institutions that were present at this countries birth and intentionally configured to keep minorities in poverty. Therefore, we must work to dismantle these systems alongside empowerment of oppressed individuals.

We also understand that most organizations involved with literacy and aid are religiously inclined. We make it a point to state that we as an organization have no religious inclination. We value the separation of church and state, just as we value religious plurality among our members and those that we help.

Intersectionality & Inclusion

This is the first step to creating a society with truly equal opportunity. Whether you’re most comfortable sharing our cause, helping fund our empowerment projects, or contributing to our list of literature and classes, we need your help to suceed.

Ready to take the next steps?

“Literacy…is a tool for daily life in modern society…a bulwark against poverty, a building block of development...a platform for democratization, and a vehicle for the promotion of cultural and national identity. It is an agent of family health and nutrition. For everyone, everywhere, literacy is a basic human right.”

— Kofi Annan
